SAMSØE SØCIETY: Gergei Erdei
This February, Samsøe Samsøe introduces a capsule collection in collaboration with artist and designer Gergei Erdei.
Inspired by his travels through Puglia, the designer and artist Erdei revisited personal photographs taken during a summer journey across Southern Italy.
Painting directly over these images using his signature fluid, expressive brushstrokes, he transforms fleeting holiday moments into wearable diary pages. The illustrations are punctuated with witty handwritten notes, capturing the romance of idleness, sun-soaked landscapes, and the poetry of everyday leisure which seamlessly aligns with the Samsøe Samsøe universe.

Gergei’s work is usually serious and decorative, rather than playful,which makes this collection a refreshing, lighthearted departure.

The collection consists of a curated selection of women’s and men’s t-shirts alongside accessories, such as a tote bag and branded caps adorned with the exclusive illustrations.

“I wanted to create something personal yet fun. I revisited photographs I took whilst travelling through Puglia and painted over them using the relaxed, flowing strokes characteristics of my work. I wanted the pieces to feel like pages from a diary, celebrating the simple art of leisure and the joy of summer moments” – Gergie Erdei.
